Applying For a Credit Card

Living in a digital world, you can’t really escape the credit card offers all around us. From banners on a website to pop ups when you are looking for something else altogether!

Most people will just block out the stuff they aren’t actively interested in, but every once in a while you come across an ad too good to miss. This is what happened to me a while back. Searching the interweb for information when I read an article title at the bottom of a page I was on about a credit card offer. I wasn’t in the market for one, in fact I had no problem with the one I had, but the interest rate and 0% balance transfer option on this card was too good to miss.

You’re wondering which card I’m talking about now I bet; well it was the new MBNA rate for life credit card deal. I’m not going to list the details, as this isn’t a sales pitch (you can click on the link and see for yourself!), but rather tell you that this card has saved me a small fortune. I was able to transfer my balances from my other cards over for free and then pay allot less each month in interest!

Applying for the credit card was pretty easy to do online and I got told I’d been successful pretty much straight away! But be careful when you see an offer this good, many credit card companies will have small print, make sure you read up on the T’s and C’s before you commit to anything, the last thing you want to do is apply for credit card after credit card and then cancel, this can actually damage your credit score, and believe me you will need this to be healthy at some point in your life (like when applying for a loan or a mortgage!)

The number of credit cards you have will also affect your overall credit score / rating. So make sure you don’t go crazy, getting new cards each time your interest free period runs out! Look at the overall package, sometimes the interest rate may look low, but that will be an introductory offer, the good thing about the MBNA rate for life card is exactly what it says on the tin, it’s a rate for life!
